 Membership in the Chorus

The 2006/07 Master <br>

The Master Chorus Eastside is an all volunteer, 50+ voice auditioned mixed chorus. Membership is based on musical ability and the need for singers in a particular voice part.  Chorus membership shall be subject to the discretion of the Artistic Director.  Subject to the minimum age of 16 years, chorus members shall not be excluded on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disability (MCE Bylaws).

Chorus rehearsals are held from 7:00 to 9:30 pm on Monday evenings at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 24850 Southeast Issaquah Fall City R, Issaquah, WA 98029. (The Chorus is not affiliated with the church.)

Auditions

Interested singers are encouraged to contact the Chorus to schedule an audition.  For your audition you will be asked to 
bullet Sing a prepared piece, such as a folk song, hymn, art song, or aria which demonstrates your vocal skill;
bullet Demonstrate your vocal range; 
bullet Sight read your vocal part of a short song selected by the Director;
bullet Demonstrate vocal technique, such as ear training, recognizing intervals.

Concert Attire

Chorus members are responsible for supplying their own concert attire.  For most concerts this will be 
bullet Men - black tuxedo
bullet Women - All women are required to wear identical dresses ordered from a manufacturer specializing in concert attire.  Speak to a Board member about ordering a dress and having it fitted.  Also required are black, closed-toe shoes; black hose; black slip; and conservative jewelry.

Financial Contribution

The Master Chorus Eastside is a non-profit, tax exempt organization, and relies on private and corporate contributions to supplement revenue from ticket sales and fundraising. Members are asked to contribute toward operating expenses during the four-quarter performing season. Contributions are currently assessed at:

bullet $70.00 per individual per quarter, or
bullet $130.00 per couple from same household per quarter.

OR
bullet $250 per individual for entire year
bullet $450 per couple from same household for entire year

Contributions are considered tax deductible, and are receipted for tax purposes at the end of the calendar year. The Chorus will not exclude any qualified singers due to inability to contribute the assessed amount.
